I’ve been spending the entire day, yesterday, trying to make a Newsletter work on a client website. When testing the subscription button, everything seemed to be working fine but I could never receive the activation email to confirm the subscription. Needless to say, it drained all my energy and I went straight to that dark place we go when we try so hard but nothing seems to work our way. Immediately my negative-self started bringing me down with words like “You’re not living your purpose, that’s why it’s not working. You don’t deserve to succeed. The Universe hates you and conspire in killing you.” While I find it quite absurd right now, I went to bed feeling devastated. I woke up this morning completely depressed and unmotivated. I managed to get out of bed and decided to give it another try. Still I couldn’t see the activation email in my inbox. After reading the documentation for a trillionth time and looking on forums for help, I suddenly thought : “Why don’t you look in your spams folder? Often times Newsletters we sign up for end up there.” I did. And guess what? All the test emails were there! I felt like an idiot because the solution was so simple. If only I would have looked at the problem from a different angle instead of loosing Faith and Hope, I probably would have solved it in no time. This got me thinking. Many of us give up because we think we are wrong. But in my situation, I wasn’t doing anything wrong. Everything was right. There was no bug. From a programming point of view, I wasn’t failing, but, from a spiritual and emotional angle, I was. Reason why I thought I was failing everywhere else. And all that only because I was failing at looking at the problem from a different angle.

yes, sometimes it is hard to leave stuck-up patterns of thinking,and only if we have the courage like you in this situation to continue we get to see the other side which is abundant of new possibilities! We just have to stay opened for them and patient to receive the advantages of not giving up and try to see the things from different perspectives even when it seems unnecessary from our point of view (which it usually would). Then, the trick is to REMEMBER this success for the next time, where we might be in a similar situation to realise this restriction that we put to ourselves BEFORE we desperate with the situation. It”s funny to observe how this can be so hard (as it seems to happen again and again sometimes) although we already know that this negative way of thinking and self-mistrust is not going to bring us anywhere, so I guess we just have to trust ourselves and try to learn from our success if we manage to get out of our stuck-up patterns of thinking! 🙂
